It gives me great pleasure to be involved with this Environment and Sustainable Development Mission and to lead this elite group of innovative planners and policy makers, designers, technologists and process engineers from the State of Victoria, Australia.

The mission delegates include representatives from a range of sectors relating to ‘ecologically sustainable development’ and each of them has been invited to participate in this Mission because they have something unique to offer.

They continue to play a significant role in the ‘sustainable’ development of Melbourne and to enhance its reputation as a global ‘design-centre’ and one of the World’s most liveable and sustainable cities.

Sustainability and liveability are intrinsically connected and they attract creative and innovative people to a city. In turn, creative and innovative people attract high-value industries and this is why sustainability and liveability are such important social, environmental and economic indicators for the long-term well being and prosperity of a region.
